November 6, 2006 - Message from Tom Weaver, Program Director

Many things have happened since CMS awarded the CDAC contract to Buccaneer Data Services. That award, which was effective September 1, 2006, was the driving force behind procuring a new facility and starting the process of preparing it for occupancy the first part of December. Accordingly, we plan to begin work at the CDAC on Monday, December 11. I would encourage you to take a few minutes and view the photos of the construction over the past several weeks. The new facility is located in the Gabriel Brothers Shopping Center just off of Mt Rose Ave. The new address of the facility is 1246 Greensprings Drive, York, PA 17402.

Demolition on the facility began in early September. Although reasonably minor, this demolition prepared the facility for construction, which has been taking place since. To date (as of Monday, 11.06.06) the construction of new walls and offices has been completed, carpet has been installed in the main part of the building, and workstations are scheduled to be installed this morning. In the rear of the building National Office Systems (NOS) is in the process of installing the foundation for the medical record storage racks. We expect to have that completed very soon. To prepare a portion of the racks currently located at the CSC CDAC facility on Pennsylvania Ave for installation at the new facility, it was necessary to move some the records to a temporary storage facility. These racks will begin to be installed on 11.09.06.

It has taken the efforts of many people to get us to where we are. More specifically, Jeff Floyd, Julie Miller, Shawn Reardon, and Sean Warner have been instrumental in providing the expertise and experience to prepare us for the start-up on 12.11.06. There is still a great deal of work to be done, but we are on schedule and looking forward to the day when we will be settled in the new facility and can begin work as Buccaneer Data Services, LLC.

October 31, 2006 - BDS has processed and mailed offer letters and benefit information to current CDAC employees. See employment page for additional information.

October 17, 2006 - The first week of moving medical records from the current warehouse to the new temp storage facility is complete. Interviews are finishing up and we are closer to finalizing the organizational chart. Stay tuned...

October 2, 2006 - BDS has secured a temporary storage facility to assist in the removal of medical records from the current facility to the new facility. This movement of records will occur from mid-October through early December.

September 2006

September 26, 2006 - Construction of the new Buccaneer Data Services CDAC building in the Gabriel Brothers Plaza in York, PA begins! Stop by and check out the mess! Address: 1246 Greensprings Rd., York, PA 17402

September 18, 2006 - BDS held an open house for all CDAC employees at 6:00 PM Monday September 18 at the Holiday Inn Holidome in York. If you were unable to attend or for more information please contact us via email or call (540) 347-7400.

August 2006

August 31, 2006 - BDS is awarded the CDAC Contract! We thank all the players involved in the creation of the business plan and technical proposal. Your dedication and knowledge of this program demonstrates your passion and desire to make the CDAC contract the best it's ever been.

July 2006

The award of the contract is expected to occur sometime this month. We continue to make arrangements for how to best transition the contract, should BDS be successful in winning the bid.

June 2006

Plans to move the CDAC to a new facility are made and interviews with current CDAC staff are under way.

May 2006

BDS submits proposal to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for the Clinical Data Abstraction Center Contract.

March 2006

BDS is created to bid the Clinical Data Abstraction Center contract as a joint venture between Buccaneer Computer Systems & Service, Information Collection Enterprises, eDaptive Systems, and Maricom Systems.
